Morgellons Disease is a newly discovered infectious disease.

Reports of a mysterious medical condition called "Morgellons Disease" are cropping up across the country. But doctors are divided on whether it is a new disease or a manifestation of some other condition.

The name comes from a condition in which similar symptoms were reported in 17th century people called Morgellons.

People who claim to have it complain of chronic skin lesions sprouting red or blue fibers...sensations of "bugs" crawling under their skin...confusion...and joint pain. Attempts to remove the fibers are said to elicit shooting pains radiating from the site.
