Docusate liquid can be used to remove ear wax.

Some physicians tell patients to put docusate liquid in their ears to help flush out excessive ear wax. The surfactant properties of the stool softener act as solvents to disperse ear wax.

There's some evidence that suggests docusate liquid works better than Cerumenex (no longer available) to loosen ear wax prior to irrigation. But another study did not find a difference between docusate, Cerumenex, or saline.

But the evidence for other cerumenolytics isn't all that robust either.
