Some women will get Zometa (zoledronic acid) to prevent recurrent breast cancer

Some women will get Zometa (zoledronic acid) to prevent recurrent breast cancer.

This bisphosphonate is already used if breast cancer spreads to the bones...to reduce bone pain and fractures.

Now evidence suggests that giving Zometa earlier helps PREVENT the cancer from spreading to the bones and recurring in the breast.
