Antidiabetes meds used for type 2 diabetes won’t work for type 1 patients.
This is partly true. But there’s some evidence that certain oral antidiabetes meds may help lower insulin requirements, A1C, and blood glucose in type 1 patients.
Don’t expect miracles. It’s based on VERY preliminary studies.
Experts are studying metformin, gliptins (sitagliptin, etc), and GLP-1 agonists (liraglutide, exenatide).
