It depends on how the steroid is being used...sometimes corticosteroids PREVENT arrhythmias.
Short-term steroids seem to prevent atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery. The theory is they prevent inflammation which can trigger A fib.
But on the other hand, data suggest that steroids (prednisone, etc) are associated with double to triple the risk of atrial arrhythmias in patients taking them for malignancies or respiratory or inflammatory conditions.
