Questions will come up about whether it's okay to use a newer oral anticoagulant to treat venous thromboembolism during PREGNANCY.

Pradaxa, Xarelto, or Eliquis are tempting to use because they don't require injections or anticoagulant monitoring.

But don't recommend them. They haven't been studied in pregnancy, the optimal dose isn't known, and safety hasn't been proven.
