Human drugs are often used very differently in pets

Human drugs are often used very differently in pets.

For example, dogs get up to 20 mcg/kg of levothyroxine BID...twenty times the typical human dose. Cats take 20 mcg/kg ONCE a day.

Pork insulin is identical to canine insulin. Beef insulin is more similar to cats'. Cats often need more dilute U-40 insulin... to make it easier to titrate the dose.
