Lamictal (lamotrigine) is now approved to be used ALONE
Lamictal (lamotrigine) is now approved to be used ALONE...it was originally approved only for use with other antiepileptics.
This new indication is for patients who are already on combo therapy with Lamictal...to try to wean them OFF their other antiepileptics. It's not yet approved for initial therapy.
As monotherapy, Lamictal often works as well as carbamazepine and phenytoin to control seizures...and it's better tolerated.
