Dostinex (cabergoline), a new long-acting dopamine agonist to lower prolactin levels

Pharmacia & Upjohn is now marketing Dostinex (cabergoline), a new long-acting dopamine agonist to lower prolactin levels.

Dostinex will be used in women and men whose high prolactin causes infertility, migraines, visual disturbances, excess lactation, etc.

Dostinex is an ergot derivative...similar to Parlodel (bromocriptine). It works just as well as Parlodel for lowering prolactin levels...but patients don't take it as often.
