Preliminary evidence suggests that ACE inhibitors can help PREVENT type 2 diabetes.
A recent study in JAMA shows that ramipril (Altace) lowers the risk of developing diabetes by about a third.
For now, assume that other ACEIs work, too. It's probably a class effect. ACE inhibitors seem to improve insulin sensitivity.
