Viread (tenofovir) can increase didanosine (Videx) levels and side effects...pancreatitis, lactic acidosis and neuropathy.

In fact, the Canadian product monograph now recommends a reduced dose of enteric-coated Videx (Videx EC) when combined with Viread.

Patients who weigh 60 kg or more should take only 250 mg of Videx EC rather than the usual 400 mg. They also need to have creatinine clearance of 60 mL/minute or more.
