New research suggests that American ginseng and St. John's wort might DECREASE warfarin's anticoagulant effects.

Ginseng and many other herbs have antiplatelet effects and therefore were thought to prolong bleeding.

But American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) and St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) seem to REDUCE warfarin's efficacy...possibly by increasing warfarin metabolism.
