Patients are mistakenly swallowing Foradil, Intal Spincaps, and Spiriva capsules intended for inhalation.
Foradil (formoterol), Intal Spincaps (sodium cromoglycate), and Spiriva (tiotropium) inhalation powders look like oral capsules and come in blister packs.
Swallowing them probably isn't harmful...but these patients don't get the respiratory benefit.
