You'll hear that pioglitazone (Actos) slows atherosclerosis.
Recent evidence suggests slower progression of atherosclerosis in patients taking pioglitazone compared to glimepiride (Amaryl).
This doesn't seem to be due to pioglitazone's glucose-lowering effect...it might be due to changes in lipids or other factors.
