Toctino (TOCK-tee-no) is a new ORAL retinoid for severe hand eczema in adults. It's being marketed in Canada before the U.S.
It's ONLY for eczema that doesn't improve enough with high-potency topical steroids. Expect about half of these patients to have clear or almost clear eczema in about 3 months with the usual starting dose of Toctino (alitretinoin).
Recommend starting with 30 mg/day. A 10 mg cap will be out soon for patients who don't tolerate the higher dose.
