ACE inhibitor or ARB to prevent kidney disease

It dispels the common belief that all diabetes patients with microalbuminuria need an ACE inhibitor or ARB, and complements our November 2012 article on the subject. Patients with diabetes do NOT necessarily benefit from an ACE inhibitor or ARB to prevent kidney disease.Most of us were taught that diabetes patients who spill small amounts of albumin into their urine should get an ACEI or ARB.
Current diabetes guidelines still recommend starting an ACEI or ARB for this MICROalbuminuria...even in patients without hypertension.
