Expect Lower Anticoagulant Doses to Be Tried to Prevent Recurrent Thrombosis

More patients will use LOW-dose direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) long-term to prevent recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE).

Patients who have a VTE are typically treated with warfarin or a DOAC (Eliquis, etc) for 3 months.

This is usually long enough if an initial VTE was caused by a short-term risk...such as a minor trauma or surgery.
