New Lokelma (loh-KEL-mah) and Veltassa (vel-TAS-sah) will pique interest in potassium binders to manage CHRONIC hyperkalemia.

Both Lokelma and Veltassa will be coming in early 2020.

There's interest in using these meds to help patients with high potassium stay on an ACEI, ARB, or aldosterone antagonist. This is especially helpful when they're needed for chronic kidney disease, heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, resistant hypertension, etc.
