Clarify the Role of Aspirin for Disease Prevention

Up to 1 in 5 patients may still be taking a daily dose of aspirin for primary CV prevention even though it’s no longer recommended for them.

Primary prevention might have a small net benefit in select patients aged 40 to 60 years with high CV and low bleeding risk. But it doesn’t seem to improve length or quality of life for most patients over 60.

Don’t routinely recommend aspirin for primary prevention...even for patients with diabetes or multiple CV risks.
