Cozaar (losartan) for heart failure

    There's lots of new interest in using Cozaar (losartan) for heart failure...as an alternative to ACE inhibitors.

    ACE inhibitors are now the cornerstone for treating systolic heart failure because they improve survival. But some patients can't take them because of cough, renal dysfunction, etc.

    Now there's some evidence that Cozaar also reduces death in these patients. In fact, a surprising new report suggests that Cozaar might be more effective than the ACE inhibitor captopril.
