Vioxx (rofecoxib) for osteoarthritis, acute pain, and primary dysmenorrhea
December 1999
Merck Frosst is now introducing Vioxx (rofecoxib) for osteoarthritis, acute pain, and primary dysmenorrhea.
It's a new COX-2 inhibitor...similar to Celebrex (celecoxib).
Vioxx and Celebrex are comparable to NSAIDs for reducing pain and inflammation...but the new drugs MIGHT cause fewer ulcers.
