Aventis is now marketing Amaryl (AM-a-ril, glimepiride), a new sulfonylurea for diabetes.
It will be used alone or combined with metformin or insulin.
Amaryl works as well as glyburide and gliclazide...and appears to have a lower risk of severe hypoglycemia.
