ADHD drug monographs will now include statements about the potential risk for sudden cardiac death.
Health Canada is asking manufacturers of Strattera, Adderall XR, methylphenidate, and the other ADHD drugs to include new warnings.
There are over 20 reports of sudden death in children and adults taking ADHD stimulants. Surprisingly, some of these deaths occurred in patients without any apparent cardiac abnormalities.
