People don't realize how much salt from foods and meds affects their blood pressure.
The usual limit is 100 mmol or 2300 mg/day of sodium...about one teaspoon of table salt.
Advise patients with hypertension to try to limit sodium to 65 mmol or 1500 mg/day. Most people get more than twice this much.
