Sublinox (zolpidem) will compete with zopiclone (Imovane, etc) as a new NON-benzodiazepine hypnotic for insomnia.

These non-benzo hypnotics seem less likely to lead to tolerance or rebound insomnia than benzodiazepines (temazepam, etc).

But Sublinox will be scheduled as a controlled substance...to conform with the United Nations' scheduling standards for psychotropics.
