new patch called Neupro (NU-pro, rotigotine) for Parkinson's disease and restless legs syndrome
You'll soon see a new patch called Neupro (NU-pro, rotigotine) for Parkinson's disease and restless legs syndrome.
Neupro is a dopamine agonist similar to oral pramipexole (Mirapex, etc) or ropinirole (Requip, etc). Expect Neupro to work about as well...and have similar side effects.
It was hoped that the patch would work better than oral agents to control Parkinson's symptoms...due to the steady release of drug from the patch. But this hasn't been proven.
