These patients usually get just aspirin...but adding clopidogrel for 3 weeks seems to improve outcomes. The combo prevents one stroke for every 29 patients compared to aspirin alone.
Canadian guidelines endorse using this combo for a minor ischemic stroke...if the patient's bleeding risk isn't high.
