Oral cefixime is falling out of favour for treating gonorrhea due to increasing resistance.
It's no longer recommended first-line in Ontario...and guidelines in the U.S. recommend avoiding it for gonorrhea.
This means no more preferred regimens with just ORAL drugs. But don't be too quick to overlook cefixime just yet.
