Movantik (mo-VAN-tick, naloxegol) will be a new ORAL opioid antagonist for treating opioid-induced constipation.

Think of it as an option for patients who don't respond to osmotic laxatives (polyethylene glycol, etc) or stimulants (bisacodyl, etc).

It blocks the effects of opioids in the gut...similar to Relistor (methylnaltrexone). Both lead to about one more bowel movement/week.
