Share Strategies to Limit Altitude Sickness
Winter will raise questions about PREVENTING altitude illness.
Ski trips and mountain treks can be ruined when thin air causes headache, nausea, fatigue, etc. Altitude illness can rarely lead to cerebral or pulmonary edema...or even death.
Encourage gradual ascent if possible...staying hydrated...limiting alcohol...and avoiding overexertion for the first 48 hours.
