SmithKline Beecham is now marketing Kytril (granisetron), to prevent nausea and vomiting from cancer chemotherapy.
Kytril is very similar to Zofran (ondansetron). In fact, these drugs are so similar the decision to use one or the other usually boils down to the cost.
They both work by blocking serotonin receptors in the GI tract and central nervous system that trigger vomiting.
