Zanaflex will be used to reduce muscle spasticity...in patients with MS, spinal cord injuries, etc.
It works as well as baclofen (Lioresal) to relieve muscle stiffness and spasms...but it doesn't cause muscle weakness.
Zanaflex is an alpha-2 agonist...similar to clonidine. Tell patients it can cause dry mouth...sedation...dizziness.
