Alesse (pronounced "A-less")

Wyeth-Ayerst is now marketing Alesse (pronounced "A-less")...a new LOW-dose oral contraceptive. It contains just 20 mcg of ethinyl estradiol and 100 mcg of levonorgestrel...one-third less than the amount of estrogen and progestin in Min-Ovral.

Alesse seems to be as effective as Min-Ovral.

But the lower dose is expected to cause fewer side effects...nausea, weight gain, headache, acne, etc.
