new guidelines for treating latent tuberculosis

The CDC just released new guidelines for treating latent tuberculosis.

There are changes in the length of isoniazid therapy...plus some shorter rifampin-based regimens to increase compliance and avoid the risk of hepatotoxicity or neuropathy with isoniazid.

Isoniazid...300 mg/day for 6 to 9 months. Give INH for the full 9 months to children...or patients with HIV or previous TB.
