Many patients have trouble using dry powder inhalers... Foradil, Pulmicort Turbuhaler, Spiriva, and Advair, Flovent or Serevent Diskus/Diskhaler.
Up to 30% of patients don't use these correctly. Some even SWALLOW Foradil or Spiriva caps instead of putting them in the inhaler.
Dry powder inhalers don't require timing of the inhalation like metered-dose inhalers. But patients do need to inhale forcefully...and the device can be more complicated to use.
