There's confusion about the different OTC alcohols.

Ethyl alcohol or ethanol is not just for spiking the punch. The OTC version is used as an antiseptic...but it's denatured first by adding acetone or other bitter substances to deter ingestion.

Isopropyl alcohol works slightly better than ethyl alcohol as an antiseptic...but it's more drying and irritating to the skin.
