New recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada will emphasize the importance of hepatitis vaccination for travellers.
Viral hepatitis is the most common vaccine-preventable disease for travellers to developing countries.
Hepatitis A is spread by the oral-fecal route through contaminated food and water. Hep A vaccination can be given up to the day of departure if necessary...but tell patients it's best given at least 4 weeks before leaving.
