3TC (lamivudine) is now approved for HIV/AIDS in children
3TC (lamivudine) is now approved for HIV/AIDS in children.
It had been approved only for patients 12 and older, but now it can be used in kids as young as 3 months. It's also now approved for use with other antiretrovirals besides zidovudine (AZT, Retrovir).
Recommend 4 mg/kg of 3TC twice daily for children...no more than 150 mg/dose.
