new injectable forms of iron

You'll see some patients getting new injectable forms of iron...Venofer (iron sucrose) and Ferrlecit (sodium ferric gluconate).

Venofer could be approved soon in Canada...but both are available now through a Special Access Programme.

They'll be used as alternatives to iron dextran (Dexiron, Infufer)...mainly for anemia in dialysis patients taking erythropoietin.
