Many patients complain that OTC phenylephrine does not alleviate congestion as well as pseudoephedrine.
Many OTC products are now made with phenylephrine...to reduce diversion of pseudoephedrine to meth labs.
We know that TOPICAL phenylephrine works very well for nasal congestion. But there is no proof that ORAL phenylephrine is effective...even in the highest available OTC strength of 10 mg.
